We celebrated our son's 24th birthday last Saturday. His request for a mocha layer cake that I had made a time or two before made me jump for joy. It's so yummy and I had been wanting an excuse to make it again. Nothing too fancy about these ingredients:
It's this one that makes all the difference:
That's right, the cake, the frosting, and the extra layer of chocolatey goodness drizzled on top all have brewed coffee added to them.
Just one piece of this and I was singing happy birthday with unbridled enthusiasm!
Happy Birthday, Abe!

Yum that looks delish.
Hello Anne
How delicious. My Aunt Suzy was well known for her rum and coffee butter cream layer cake. Coffee is flavour which I love especially in a cake but have to be careful as I get terrible palpitations! Happy belated birthday to your son. I have to say that looking at your phto, you do not look old enough to have a 24 year old!
By the way, I have featured the picture that I bought from you in my latest post.
Take care
