Blogging Etiquette: Am I Doing Something Wrong?
RING PHONE RING! Ever feel like that?
Feeling a little down about my lack of comments (i.e. friends) so I decided to cheer myself up by compiling a
List of Possible Reasons:
1) I have a big sign over my blog that I can't see that says, "Stay Away From Her!"
2)To have a friend you must be one. But I've left hundreds and hundreds of comments...
3)It's summer and everyone's too busy. Yeah, yeah, I know. So how do I explain the abundance of comments everywhere I go.
4)I came in too late in the game. Okay, but doesn't anyone have room in their heart for a newbie?
5)I have a comment-neediness that is so obvious that it repels would-be commenters.
6)My lack of consistency with posting ~ working on that one...
7)My text is too small (grasping here).
8)I was put on this earth to be a comment fairy, going around sprinkling comments about.
9)My posts are just self-absorbed and boring.
10)My posts are just too amazing, leaving the reader speechless.
Don't get me wrong, I am not aiming for some large number of comments or a sense of popularity. Just some human connection, that's all. A group of friends that stop by to say hi on a regular basis would make me smile. And I do have a couple of those that truly warm my heart with their visits. Posting a rant about not getting comments is probably not the way to endear you to me and invite comments, but at least you've allowed me to vent. Whew! I feel better. Bottom line, I love to read your blogs and I love to express myself in writing, so I'll keep blogging no matter how many comments I get.

Mostly I lurk...but, I am here for you! I think I get the same thing...lots of lurkers. At least I hope so! I have friends from other states who regularly read my blog(at least they tell me they do!!!), but NEVER have left a comment.
I DO love your reasonings tho! Very funny!
You're not doing anything wrong. I'm finding comments slow down a LOT during summer. I've personally been really busy lately and haven't had a lot of time to read everyones blogs much less work on my own. You have a great blog!
Farmgirl ~ so nice to know you're here for me!
Steph ~ thanks for your encouragement!
Your list cracked me up...you are not alone girlfriend! I can have 200 visits a day and sometimes 1-4 comments on a post. I'm sure people just read it and go on to the next. I do the same if I don't really know someone personally. I think I have 30 blogs a day that I visit, but only leave maybe 2-3 comments. I love your blog..please don't ever stop. :)
I agree with Nancy above. I always read your blog when you have a post. I don't always comment, mainly because either i don't really know what to say or I always say the same ting and I get tired of it so I figure you must be tired of it too. I do feel the same way at times about the lack of comments. But I keep posting, hoping people will keep reading. And so should you. Keep posting, that is.
Hugs,
Tamerie
Sheesh, I'm not sure if those stats cheer me up or bum me out! But seriously, Nance, your comments always do my heart good.
Thanks for reading Tamerie. I never get tired of your comments!
Hi Ann
I left you an award on my latest post!
Hugs
Hi there! I just found your blog through Tamerie's... I am new at blogging too, welcome! I love the photo of you with all the purses, my weakness! I promise I will visit again soon, and comment as well, I am never at a loss for words!
There you go again...making me laugh! Stats schmatz..it's only a number. When I started I think I had 10-15 a day tops.
You are so funny. I do 'lurk' everyday on your blog. I absolutely love your blog!!! Hugs from your friend in California...Me!!!
Thank you for letting me know you hang out here Ginny. So nice to know I have another friend in California! Hugs, Ann
Hi Ann, how I love your posts! You really made me smile with this one! Been feeling a bit like you have lately with summer and all but I have also had some un-welcome downtime with computer problems...
Just wanted to let you know I adore your blog and while I don't always leave a comment it's always a joy to visit!
Take care ~ Rebecca
I have really downsized my list of blogs I read, only commentng on the ones I love these days..yours is among them ;)xo
I hardly get any comments on my blog, and that is ok with me, I find that being on facebook to connect is way better for me these days! if you ever join FB ann look me up! xoxoxox
I can so relate to this post! I honestly don't think there is any real "formula" to it -- I've heard everything from "You have to go out there and leave comments all the time all over everyone's blog and then people will start clicking back to you." to "Its really all just a lot of social hierarchy and it just depends on your connections, etc." (That one sounds more like sour grapes, though...).
I think if we were to do all the things that I've heard out there that are supposed to net you more comments-per-post, we wouldn't be able to also maintain our online/brick & mortar stores, or homes or families!! :)
I'm with you -- I'd just keep blogging because you want to. Its ends up being such a nice "scrapbook" of your life, as an added bonus.
Take care sweet blog-land friend,
Ruth
ha ha ha ha ha...!! We are rolling around on the floor right now! Yes...I think it is #3 ~ for sure - between vacations we've hardly had time to comment - so we're sure it is that way all around blog world! Now...#8 - we love that one - a blog fairy - we LOVE it!!

I'm hooked!! and you have vintage in the title of your blog! fast friends already!!
